Portopí
Portopí is a neighborhood in the western district of Palma with a long history and tradition, not only as a neighborhood: also as a fishing village, a summer resort for bourgeois Mallorcan families and as a tourist focus in the 60s, proliferating the conversion into small hotels of old villas and apartment block construction. As a natural continuation of El Terreno and the southwest edge of Palma, the gateway to Cala Major and the municipality of Calvià, it is a neighborhood with character where artists and writers decided to settle: in the same port, in front of the Pelaires tower, the Nixe and the Nixe II of Archduke Luis Salvador, as well as the Fortuna of the royal family, a gift from the businessmen of Mallorca to the monarch. Today it is a cosmopolitan neighborhood with all the benefits and services, with local and international shops and a large shopping center that takes the name of the neighborhood: Porto Pi Centro.
