Calpe
Calpe is a municipality in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community (Spain), located on the north coast of the province of Alicante, in the Marina Alta region. On its coast rises majestically the Peñón de Ifach, a rocky mass 332 m high. This rock is one of the symbols of the Costa Blanca. Attached to the land by a small isthmus, its 332 meters high by the sea surprises those who discover it. Its origin is due to a landslide from the nearby Sierra de Oltà and it is, without a doubt, one of the most visited natural spaces in the Mediterranean.
In addition, Calpe stands out for its variety of beaches and coves of Calpe, available with fine white sand, as well as Levante - La Fossa or lÁrenal - Bol beaches. But there are also places with calm Mediterranean, El Racó coves, Calalga, among other. Its port area stands out, next to the monumental rock, it is full of life and is a fantastic place to take a walk, contemplate the work of the fishermen and, of course, taste the local product. Traditionally, it was an agricultural population, which produced almonds, raisins and carob beans; its economy was also based on fishing and the extraction of salt from its salt flats, today a natural park. Exits 63 and 64 of the AP-7 motorway connect with Calp, a municipality that is also accessed by the N-332 Valencia-Alicante. The town has a narrow-gauge railway, which runs along the coast, and a regular bus service.
