The sale of homes rose by 16.2% last February in relation to the same month of 2017, to add 41,480 operations, its highest figure in this month since 2011, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics ( INE).
However, the year-on-year advance in February, with which the sale of homes has ten consecutive months of increases, has moderated with respect to the one registered in January (+ 23.1%).
Transactions on new homes increased by 16.2% in February compared to the same month in 2017, totaling 33,963, while the sale of new homes increased by 16.4% year-on-year, to 7,517 transactions.
90.2% of the dwellings transmitted by sale in the second month of the year were free dwellings and 9.8% protected. The sale of free homes increased by 17.4% in February in interannual rate, to total 37,412 transactions, while operations on subsidized housing advanced 5.8%, with 4,068 transactions.
In monthly terms (February on January), the sale of homes fell by 12.3%, its biggest monthly decrease in a month of February since 2014.
Last February, the largest number of home sales per 100,000 inhabitants occurred in the Valencian Community (164), the Balearic Islands (140) and Cantabria (126).
