Plana Baja
La Plana Baja is a region of the Valencian Community (Spain) located on the south coast of the province of Castellón. It comprises a total of 20 municipalities, in an area of 605.20km² and with a total population of 192,283 inhabitants. The capital of the region is the town of Nules, although the most populated municipality is Villarreal. It limits to the north with the Plana Alta and the Alcalatén, to the west it limits with the Alto Mijares and the Alto Palancia, to the east with the Mediterranean Sea, and to the south with the province of Valencia (specifically with the Campo de Murviedro). The Plana Baja region is of modern creation (in 1983), and includes part of what was formerly the Plana region, and the old Bajo Espadán region.
